Official Statement from Daniel Blackman

Yesterday, the Secretary of State made the decision to disqualify me from the ballot in the race and contested primary for Georgia’s Public Service Commission, District 3. While I respectfully disagree with the ruling, I want to be clear: I am not stepping away. My team is appealing the decision, and I will remain fully committed to the fight for energy justice and public accountability in Georgia.

Good afternoon, Georgia.

Let me begin by expressing my sincere gratitude. To everyone who has voted, shared a kind word, donated, or simply stood beside me and my family—thank you. Your support has lifted us in one of the most challenging and defining moments of this campaign.

This race was never about politics as usual—it’s about people. It’s about the seniors choosing between prescriptions and power bills. It’s about working families across Georgia—whether in coastal towns, Georgia’s rural counties, or Metro Atlanta—who have quietly carried the burden of rising utility costs for far too long. It’s about the communities who’ve been left out of decisions that directly impact their everyday lives.

The fact that a decision to remove me was made during early voting only underscores what many of us already know: this race matters. Your vote matters. Your voice matters. And for the first time in our state’s history, people are really paying attention to the Public Service Commission.

That alone is progress—and it’s worth fighting for.

I entered this race because I believe Georgia deserves a regulator who puts people over profits, and transparency over politics. That belief hasn’t changed. If anything, the events of the last few days have only deepened my commitment.

So to my supporters, to the media, and to every Georgia voter: I ask you not to lose faith—not in this campaign, and certainly not in the power of your participation. This moment is bigger than my candidacy. It’s about ensuring that no voice is silenced, and no community is overlooked.

We have allowed the legal process to take its course, and as we enter this final phase, the fight for fairness, equity, and justice in Georgia’s energy future continues—and so do I.

Let’s show up. Let’s vote in historic numbers. Let’s make it clear: this seat is not for sale, and  this race and this moment belong to the people of the great State of Georgia.

With gratitude and resolve,
Daniel Blackman
