A Fighter for Georgia

I’m Daniel Blackman, and I’m running for Georgia Public Service Commission, District 3 to fight for lower bills, safe and reliable energy, and real accountability. From Atlanta to Albany, from the suburbs to the countryside, I’m committed to serving all Georgians and making sure your voice is heard.

I’m not just running to hold office—I’m running to make a real difference. Whether it’s stopping unfair rate hikes, investing in clean and reliable energy, or making sure everyone has a fair shot, my mission is clear: put Georgians first.

About Daniel Blackman

Born the second of three sons to Rudolph and Diana Blackman, Daniel’s passion for service began at home. His father was a U.S. Army Ranger and his mother was an Army wife—both teaching him the importance of sacrifice, hard work, and standing up for what’s right.

With roots in Barbados, where his grandfather served as a diplomat and consul general, Daniel grew up with a deep sense of duty to his community and the world. His journey eventually brought him to Georgia, where he built a family with his wife, Jeanelle, and their children, Anias, Zion, Micah, and Aaliyah.

Above all, Daniel is a husband, father, and proud Georgian. He’s been shaped by his family’s legacy of service and driven by a passion to make life better for all Georgians. Whether he’s working in the community, testifying before Congress, or talking to voters across the state, Daniel brings the same commitment: People first.

Proven Leadership

Daniel has spent his career fighting for justice, equality, and progress—from the halls of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the streets of Georgia’s communities. As the first Black man to serve as Regional Administrator for the EPA’s Southeast Region, he led over 1,100 federal personnel and managed more than $4.5 billion in federal funding to address climate change, infrastructure, and public health.

Under his leadership, Daniel:

  • Secured a $284 million WIFIA loan to modernize DeKalb County’s water infrastructure, creating jobs and ensuring clean water for thousands.

  • Oversaw a $48.7 million federal grant to reduce pollution at Georgia Ports, improving air quality and protecting public health.

  • Distributed $200 million for electric school bus deployment to promote clean energy and protect children’s health.

  • Worked to ensure Georgia received its fair share of federal resources for clean energy, broadband access, and infrastructure improvements.

Daniel also served as the first-ever Senior Advisor for STEM Recruitment and Diversity at the EPA, championing opportunities for underrepresented groups in science, technology, engineering, and math.
